Carolyn (Priehs) Frank

Carolyn (Priehs) Frank, age 91, went to be with the Lord at her residence at Riverside Commons in Chesterfield on June 26, 2009, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Carolyn was born to Edward and Matilda (Brennan) Priehs on July 17, 1917, in Mount Clemens. Carolyn attended Mount Clemens High School and then the University of Michigan. She graduated in 1939 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Carolyn helped to manage and was the cosmetics buyer in the family business, Prieh's Department Store, throughout her working life. In her capacity as buyer she made several trips to New York City every year to purchase cosmetics for retail sales at the store. She married her beloved husband, Joseph F. Frank, in Duck Hill, Mississippi while Joseph was in boot camp. Joe and Carolyn had three children which they raised in Mount Clemens. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, infant daughter Mary Frank, daughter Judy Evans, her sister Margaret Broderick, brothers Edward Priehs and George Priehs. Carolyn was an avid golfer and loved gardening. She was a Girl Scout leader and treasurer for the Otsitka Council. She was a member of the Mount Clemens Pilot Club, served as a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital East and was involved as a reading mentor with the literacy program through the Macomb County Library. She greatly enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of a neighborhood bridge club throughout her married life. Carolyn was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran church in Mount Clemens. Her grandfather had helped to build the first Trinity Lutheran Church which was located on Dickerson Street. Mrs. Frank is survived by her son Timothy Frank of New Baltimore, daughter Joan (Douglas) Spiller of Clinton Township, and son-in-law Jerry Evans of Harrison Township. Carolyn has eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the Harold Vick Funeral Home located at 140 South Main Street, Mount Clemens, Michigan from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1. Burial will follow at Clinton Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mount Clemens Historical Society and Trinity Lutheran Church.
