John "Smitty" Smith age 74 of Kermit went to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 05, 2006. He was born on August 12, 1931 in Springdale, Arkansas to Fred and Minnie Smith.
He was a resident of Kermit for the last 37 years where he spent much time as a truck driver in the oil field. John loved to fish and play dominoes. He also enjoyed watching old westerns on TV.
He is survived by his three daughters: Barbara King of Austin, Texas; Brenda Perez of Kermit, Texas; Susan Carpenter of Cookville, Texas; two sons: Gary Estep of Springdale, Arkansas; Johnny Smith of Fayetteville, Arkansas; four sisters: Maxine Bookout of Rogers, Arkansas; Lois Meizner of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; Marilyn Hale of Springdale, Arkansas, Sherry Stephens of Springdale, Arkansas; three brothers: Jack Smith of Springdale, Arkansas; Joe Smith of Springdale, Arkansas; Fred Smith of Dardanelle, Arkansas; nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Fred and Minnie Smith, one daughter, Carolyn Smith, one sister, Violet McGouen, and one brother, Delmer Smith.
Services will be held at Kermit Cemetery on Monday, January 09, 2006 at 10:00 am with Brother Dudley Mullins officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.
