Annie Lee Bates, 96, a resident of Pelahatchie died Monday, March 07, 2011 at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held 5-8 pm Wednesday, March 9, 2011 and 8:30-11:15 am Thursday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Leesburg Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Joseph Oster will officiate the service. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton will be in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bates was a native and long time resident of the Leesburg Community in Rankin Co. She was the daughter of Archie and Margaret Parker Shoemaker. She was married to Bill Bates. Mrs. Bates was a Member of Leesburg Baptist Church. She loved her family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to her life. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Margaret Shoemaker, husband Bill Bates and daughter, Billie Ann Jones.

Mrs. Bates is survived by her daughters, Ernestine Merchant of Pelahatchie, Aline (Merl) Squires of Canton and Paulette (Jim) Black of Madison; 9 grandchildren, Tim Merchant and Wanda Hale Both of Brandon, Pam Schisler of Madison, Ann Crapps of Morton, Tommy and Terry Squires both of Canton, Natalie Keller and Renee Yancey both of Leesburg and Noble Black of New York, NY.
