Obituary - Kaye Weaver McEwen, 63, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 18, 1947 in Ogden, Utah to Caryol Burton and Louis Dickson Weaver. Kaye was raised in Kaysville where she attended local schools. She graduated from Davis High School in 1965, soon after she received her license to practice cosmetology. She married Robert "Bob" McEwen on August 9, 1967; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 23, 1985.

Early in their marriage Kaye and Bob lived in California for a few years. They returned to Kaysville in 1973 and this is where they raised their four children Doug, Mark, Kachelle, and David. Kaye was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she had several callings over the years. After Bob's death in 1989, Kaye worked at local businesses such as Bowman's Market and Allstate. She was a friend to anyone who needed one; and she will be forever remembered as a hard-working woman who always put her family first. She was known for her kindness, honesty, as for well as her strength and stubbornness. She was also a proud mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. Kaye faced many trials in her life, but never became bitter. She rose to the top and overcame every obstacle. Cancer may have taken her mortal life, but Kaye has shown her children and grandchildren what perseverance is; and in the end she was reunited with her one true love, Bob.

The family would like to thank the dedicated nurses, doctors, and staff at McKay-Dee Hospital who have done so much for mom these past few weeks. We will be forever in gratitude for their efforts and actions.

Kaye is survived by her children: daughter-in-law Tracie of Syracuse; son Mark (Janalynn) of West Clinton; daughter Kachelle of Kaysville; and son David (Stephanie) of West Valley City; and her 11 grandchildren: Sharon (Allen), Mark Robert, Rilee, Mardell, Michael, Charlotte, Macie, Carlee, Morgan, Ryan, and Sara. She is also survived by her in-laws, Gloria and Tom Hunt of Richfield and brother-in-law Sheldon McEwen also of Richfield, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Kaye was preceded in death by her husband Bob, son Doug, parents, and brothers Val and Brad.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main.

Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
