Aretha Viola Faye Johnson was born August 20, 1937 to Talram and Stella (Wadley) Freeman in Bristow, Oklahoma. She departed this life Saturday, May 22, 2010 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years, 9 months, and 2 days.

Aretha attended Bristow public schools and later received her nursing certificate as a LPN. She worked at the Stroud Health Care Center for a number of years. She was a member of the Bristow First Free Will Baptist Church. Her hobbies consisted of crocheting, dancing, ice tea, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by three daughters; Joanne Mayberry and husband Gale, Terri McGuire and husband Mark, Penny Sherwood and husband Doug, Five sisters; Katie Trout, Rosie King, Sylvia Gabriel, Dottie Johnson, and Alice Johnson, One brother C.C. Freeman, Grandchildren; Christine (Mayberry) Stites, Adrianne (Mayberry) Phillips, Elisa (McGuire) Poynor, Sara (McGuire) Nance, Kelly McGuire, Clifford Sherwood, Stephanie (Sherwood) Crawford, & Elizabeth Sherwood, fifthteen Great Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by two sons, Clifford Johnson and Tony Johnson, One daughter, Donna Johnson, Two sisters, Becky Messer, and Josephine Goodwin, and One Great Granddaughter, Nevaeh Nance.

Funeral services will be 10AM, Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the 1st Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Gene Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Cemetery.
