Vernon Dale Proffitt, 69, Farmington, New Mexico, died at his home May 3, 1988. Funeral services were held Friday, May 6, at the First Baptist Church, Farmington, with Rev. James Tidenberg officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Farmington.
Born July 18, 1918, at Sterling, he was the son of the late Arthur and Lydia Proffitt. He married Marjorie Wheeler on May 22, 1938, and lived in the Lyons-Sterling area for several years. He had resided in Farmington for the past 29 years where he was a car salesman for Snow Bray Chevrolet Co.
Survivors include his wife of the home, three sons, Jim Proffitt, Farmington, Terry, Gallup, New Mexico, and Gary, Mesa, Arizona; a daughter, Susan Wyland, Brighton, Illinois; four brothers, Harold, Garald, and Clinton, all of Alden; and Arlos, Sterling; a sister, Betty Duft, Sterling, and seven grandchildren.
