A former city fireman, Charles D. Baltz Sr., 65, of 107 S. Pearl St., died at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Osteopathic Hospital following an illness of 11 days.
Son of the late Charles R. and Cora M. Sides Baltz, he was born and lived his entire life in Lancaster.
He was the husband of Helen M. Witsch Baltz.
Baltz retired from the city fire department in 1951 after serving for 25 years.
He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lancaster and the International Firefighters Assn.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Charles D. Baltz Jr., and Richard S. Baltz and a daughter, Helen M., wife of Glenn Y. Eshleman, all of Lancaster; six grandchildren, three sisters and a brother, Helen, wife of Isaac Martin, Miss Miriam Baltz, and Mildred, wife of Lambert Steinbacher, all of Bausman, and Richard Baltz, Willow Street.
