Earl Matlock, 39 of Fredonia, died early Thurs. when he apparently lost control of his automobile and struck a bridge one mile north of Climax near Eureka. Matlock alone in his car and was thrown under it when it hit the bridge, it was disclosed by the sheriff's Department in Eureka, He was born on Feb. 2, 1922 the son of Roy and Verdila Matlock of Dewey, Oklahoma. He was an employee of Conrad Oil Company of Fredonia. Mr. Matlock is survived by his wife Mary Louise; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Matlock of Fredonia; four sons Edwin, James, Joe, and Melvin of Fredonia; three daughters Mrs. Joe Leaming of Thayer; Della Louise and Sondra Fay Matlock; of Fredonia; five brothers, Alvin Matlock, Raymond Matlock, Floyd Matlock, and Don of Fredonia and Archie Matlock of Topeka; three sister; Mrs. Kathleen Sack of Holyrood, Mrs. Zoe Boham of Palco and Mrs. Lillian of Piqua and 36 neices and nephews.
Mr. Matlock was a member of the V. F. W. and a veteran of W.W.ll.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 16 at 2:30 in the Chapel of the Dunham Funeral Home with Rev. Homer Gilbert of the Nazarene Church officiating. Interment in the Fredonia City Cemetery.
Mt. Matlock was a former Toronto resident.
