Russell Barger, whose death Monday, January 17, came as a shock to his family and to the entire community, was buried Thursday, January 20 in the Woodburn cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Warren Hile at the Webster funeral home. Emil Rinderspacher sang two numbers, accompanied by Amy Ruth Harlan.

Russell W. Barger, son of Roy H. and Pearl Wing Barger, was born in Clarke county, near Weldon, July 21, 1908. He died at the Clarke county hospital as the result of a heart attack January 17 at the age of 46 years, 6 months and 27 days. He had been in usual health and had remained at his work until three days before his death. He had lived all of his life in Clarke county.

On July 21, 1934 he married Maxine Mathews and to this union four children were born. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Marie, a student at Iowa State Teachers College, and Mary at home, also two sons James and David, at home. His mother as well as many other relatives survive. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.

He was a member of the Isaac Walton League of Osceola. He had worked as a machinist and mechanic throughout his life.
