Mitt Jones of Everton, who fell last winter on the ice in front of Bobby Patterson's store and broke his arm, died Monday night. He had been given blood transfusions from his son Ray, but these failed to save him.

I believe Mitt spent some time in the Aurora hospital after his fall on the ice, and at some point he was moved to daughter Verna's home. The death certificate indicates he had fractured his collar bone, and had an infection in his hand. His immediate cause of death is listed as myocarditis. His illness was over a five weeks span.

James Milton Jones , son of Artimsy Ann and Jimmy Jones was born January 19, 1872 in Dade County, Missouri. He departed this life March 30, 1942 at the age of 70 years, 2 months, and 11 days at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Morris of Chesapeake, Missouri.

He was united in marriage to Ada Trimble, December 11, 1901, and to this union two children were born. A daughter, Mrs. George Morris of Chesapeake, and a son Ray of Everton.

He was one of a family of eight children, six (Kisiah A, Nancy Alice, William T, Luana V, John A, and Arminta Josephine) of whom preceded him in death. He leaves one brother George "Lee" of Riverdale, California.

He gave his heart to God and was united into the Friend Baptist Church near Everton some forty years ago.

Besides his loving wife, children and brother, he leaves two little grandchildren, Allan George Morris and Martha Lee Jones.

Uncle Mitt was an affectionate, home loving, kind husband and father, and will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
