Rites Held June 10 For Richard Sokol

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 10 at the Lindquist Bountiful Chapel for Richard F. Sokol, 48, who died Saturday, June 7 at the South Davis Community Hospital of a heart ailment.

Mr. Sokol was born July 23, 1920 in Fullerton, Nebraska to Anthony and Kathryn Sokol. He married Beverly Gene Bird, October 8, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose No. 259; a former employee of ZCMI, Fogg and Braby Furniture; employed the past ten years by William H. Volker Company. He served as 1st Sergeant in Europe during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, sons and daughter - Richard Denton, USAF, Elmdorf, Alaska; Steven Anthony, U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington; Mrs. Vaughn B. (Midge) Nelson, Bountiful. Also two grandchildren, and brothers and sisters, Ted, Mrs. Carol Wepetinski and Mrs. Lucille Morehouse, all of Omaha, Nebraska; Mrs. Margaret Swopes, Caldwell, Idaho and Mrs. Francis Rosenbaum, Alhambra, California.

Dean R. Cannon gave the family prayer at the mortuary, and Nancy Bjornn played the prelude and postlude music for the services. The opening prayer was by Richard E. Balderston, then a musical selection, "Not Now, But in the Coming Years" was sung by Thomsas G. Pike, accompanied by Mary Jean Bankhead. Richard Watkins, III and S. Clair Bankhead spoke: also Dean R. Cannon gave some remarks. Another musical selection, "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked" by Larry L. Memmott and accompanied by Mary Jean Bankhead; and the closing prayer was given by Gary L. Bjornn.

The Grave was dedicated by Mack J. King and interment was in Bountiful Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Tom Latin, Sam Johnson, Bud Colestock, Wid Prater, Charles Burton, Bill Clifton. Floral arrangements were cared for by the Bountiful 30th Ward Relief Society.
