After a lingering illness Mrs. Mary Ellen Gatlin, wife of J. G. Gatlin, died yesterday morning at 4:50 o'clock. Mrs. Gatlin was 78 years of age and had resided in Austin for many years. She is survived by her husband, five daughters, Mrs. T. B. Newcomb, Mrs. R. L. Carpenter of this city, Mrs. W. E. Hawley of San Antonio, Mrs. A. c. Heep of El Paso and Mrs. F. H. Gatlin of Oklahoma and four sons, E. H. Gatlin and J. D. Cole of Austin, O. H. Cole of Corsicana and Jeff D. Cole of Ada, Okla., and a number of grandchildren. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the residence of F. H. Gatlin, 400 West Thirty-fifth Street. (Austin American-Statesman, Austin, Tex, Mar 28, 1915 )
