The son of John D. Hayes and ? Robinson, he was a farmer, according to his death certificate, informant was John William Hayes.

Obituary (Moberly (MO) Monitor-Index, Nov. 9, 1937)- Madison, Nov. 9- C. Henry Hayes, prominent farmer who lived one mile west of Madison, died at his home yesterday morning about 8 o'clock. Mr. Hayes was born near Madison, March 11, 1876, and his entire life had been spent in this vicinity. He was married to Miss Laura Belle Todd, and to this union three children were born. Although he had not felt well during the summer months, Mr. Hayes was not confined to his bed until a few weeks ago. He was taken to McCormick Hospital but was brought home two weeks ago, where he was cared for by members of his family. Surviving Mr. Hayes are his wife; one son, Wilbur, of the home; another son, Russell, Farmington, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. John Cox, near Cairo; two grandchildren, Joyce Cox and Billie Cox, near Cairo; two brothers, Will Hayes of Colorado, who has been at his bedside for two weeks, and Lee Hayes, Florida. Funeral services will be conducted from the Christian Church, of which he was a member, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the Rev. J. D. Powell, Perry. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Madison.
