Football Hall of Fame Team Owner. Born Timothy James Mara in New York City, he was the founder, owner and administrator of the National Football League's New York Giants. Under his guidance, the New York Giants won eight divisional titles (1933, 1935, 1939, 1941, 1944, 1946, 1958, 1959) and four NFL Championships (1927, 1934, 1938, 1956). He also strengthened what would become one of pro football's most successful storied franchises and one of sport's most elite organizations. Upon his death at the age of 71, his sons Wellington and John continued the ownership of the Giants. In 1963, he was posthumously inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
