Sergeant Gerald F. Wren, DSN 2525 was originally hired as a Civilian Switch Board Operator on 04/10/1940 for District 2. On 03/171941 he revived his commission and entered the Police Academy. After completion of the academy he served in the 12Th and also in the Traffic Safety Division. Due to World War 11 he resigned his commission on 03/13/1943 and entered the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged on 05/13/1945 as a Technical Sergeant which is an E-6. He was reappointed to the Saint Louis Police Department on 05/25/1945 and went back to the Traffic Safety Division. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal on 04/01/1954, and then to Sergeant on 08/13/1958. With both of these promotions he remained in the Traffic Division. On 03/15/1960 he was transferred to the 12Th District and then to the Traffic Division on 08/08/1960 and he stayed there until 06/26/1964 when he was sent to the 4th District. Sergeant Wren retired on 12/19/1964 on an accidental disability from the police department. During his career he was awarded 3 Letters of Honorable Mention on 04/26/1952, 09/19/1952, and o 09/20/1952. Sergeant Wren served a total of 24 years, 8 months, and 9 days of faithful and dedicated service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police department.
