"Uncle Arthur" as he was known by everyone in my family, lived his entire life in Hawaii. He was the younger half-brother of my Grandmother, Angela Cabral Gill. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting him, I have been told by family members that he was, "very caring, generous and the dearest man"

Arthur's maternal Grandparents were Luis de Jesus, Find A Grave 367815658 and Maria Isabel Gomes Jesus, Find A Grave #67815756.

The following obituary is from The Honolulu Advertiser:

"ARTHUR LEWIS CAMARA, 84, of Honolulu, died Feb. 9, 2003. Born in Honolulu. First Hawaiian resident to be drafted by the National Football League but, was drafted by the U.S. Army within the same week and never played professional football. Recipient of a Purple Heart as a survivor of the World War II Burma march. Survived by sons, Curtis, Dwayne Enos and Keith Enos; daughters Mary Ann Whitman-Mansfield and Patricia McDonald; brother Edward, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Service 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Arrangements by Mililani Downtown Mortuary."

CORRECTION: Arthur was one of many great athletes drafted into the NFL from Hawaii.
