"Samuel D. Benfer, fifty-six, Conestoga R2, died Sunday at 3 a.m. after an illness of four years. Prior to his illness, he was employed at the Slaymaker Lock Company.

Husband of the late Bertha Gable Benfer, he was born in Lancaster. (inconsistant with his marriage license, telling that he was born in Snyder Co., PA) His parents were the late Charles and Catherine Daecher Benfer.

Benfer was a veteran of World War I, having served with the 304th Engineers in three major battles in France.

Surviving are a sister, Mary Jane, wife of Charles Beck, this city, and a brother Charles H., Conestoga R2."
