S. J. Butler of Mendenhall Passes Rites Held Sunday

Following the day of his 74th birthday, Mr. Sidney J. Butler, of Mendenhall passed away on Saturday around the noon hour. Death came at the family residence following a long illness.

He was a member of the Mendenhall Baptist Church and the Mendenhall Masonic Lodge No. 497. A native of Smith county, he had resided in Simpson county for forty years.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 from the Mendenhall Baptist Church, with Rev. C. C. Jones officiating, assisted by Rev. N. F. Davis, Jr., and Dr. Gilbert L. Oliver.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dona Hales Butler, Mendenhall; two sisters, Mrs. J. J. Stuard, Magee and Mrs. Kate Robinson, Taylorsville.

Interment was in Mendenhall cemetery under the direction of Mendenhall funeral Home. Full Masonic rites were observed, with Masons serving as pallbearers.
