Carmel Hallows Nielson, 91, of Richfield, passed away March 5, 2011. She was born May 21, 1919 near Aurora to Gilbert and Nettie Bagley Hallows. She married Ellis Auer Nielson, August 18, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. They enjoyed 65 years together. Ellis passed away May 17, 2006.

Carmel loved to sew, quilt and read. All of her grandchildren have a quilt that was made for them. She liked to plant flowers. She was a great cook and made many pies.

Carmel was active in the LDS Church, serving in the Primary, Sunday School, and Relief Society presidency. She was a member of the Richfield Culture Club for 40 years.

She is survived by daughters, Linda (Woody) Farnsworth, Richfield; Lorna (Larry) Reese, Cedar City; son, Terry E. (Desiree) Nielson, Richfield; 12 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; brother, Duane (Ruth) Hallows, Loa; sisters-in-law, Mildred Nielson and Wilmoth Nielson; brother-in-law, Jack Bosh.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mazel and Melda Nielson; Newell Nielson; Arlon Nielson; Larry and Gertrude Peterson; Mary Bosh; Maurlin and Barbara Mickelsen.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 South 100 West, Richfield. Friends may call at the mortuary Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
