Clara was born in Holtville, California February 11, 1927 and moved to San Diego, California as a young child where she lived until moving to Boise in 2008.
Clara met Prime Guerin while working as a soda jerk in a roller skating rink and they were married on October 14, 1948. In their early years together they enjoyed square dancing, and in later years traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada. They also enjoyed cruises to Alaska and through the Panama Canal and a wonderful trip to Europe. Their best times were spent with family either camping in the mountains or riding in the desert.
Clara was an avid seamstress and loved doing crafty things. She belonged to a machine embroidery club and hauled her sewing machine to many conventions. In the last three years, Clara stayed mostly inside, but enjoyed watching birds and squirrels in the backyard.
Clara was preceded in death by her father, William Angus; her mother, Gilbert Lawton Angus; her four brothers, Gilbert, George, John, and Ernest; baby granddaughters, Savanna and Sierra; and her beloved husband, Prime.
She is survived by her children, Linda (David) Helms; Stephen (Donna) Guerin; Nancy Upchurch (Michael Faircloth); grandchildren, Gina Helms; Mark Guerin; Jim (Amy) Helms; Shelly Guerin (Pasqual Vasquez); Amber (Andy) Craft; and Christopher Guerin; and great grandchildren, Jesse Guerin; Owen Gonzalez; Brooke Gonzalez; Samantha Vasquez; Jasmine Vasquez; and Baby Craft (due in September).
The family wants to thank with all our hearts the great caregivers from At Home Care who watched over her day and night for the last 3 years. Special thanks to Legacy Hospice and the wonderful nurses and aids along with the social worker and Chaplain who cared so lovingly for our mother/nana/nana-great.
Clara's funeral and burial will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, March 12, 2011 at El Camino-Sorrento Valley Cemetery in San Diego.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the American Cancer Society, Idaho Food Bank or your favorite charity.
