Services will be held Sunday at Graceland Cemetery in Albion at 2 p.m., with visitation being held at 1 p.m. There will be full military rites.
Mr. Smith was born in Edwards County on November 13, 1896, the son of Sidney and Mary (Green) Smith. He married Murial Glover at the Christian Church Parsonage in Albion, on January 17, 1918. She preceded him in death on April 10, 1988.
He was a veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion Post 590, in Albion, and was a member of the First Christian Church of Albion since 1928.
Surviving are one brother, Richard Smith and one sister, Edith Roosevelt, both of Albion, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and one brother, Harry Smith, and by three sisters, Amy Hedge, Lucy Rice, and Nellie Smith.
