Son of Amos & Elizabeth (Wiley) Hastings, early settlers in Bethel, Maine; married Deborah Howard of Fryeburg, Maine, in 1805, and was an early settler in Stow. Amos was a veteran of the War of 1812. Their daughter, Diantha (Hastings) Farrington, is buried in the same lot. Their son, Mason Hastings, is buried at North Fryeburg Cemetery [FAG #51345929].
