James Edward "Jimmy" Ard, 69, of Johnsonville, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at McLeod Health Center in Florence.

Graveside services will be Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery. The Revs. Frankie Tanner and Steve McCutcheon will officiate. McKenzie Funeral Home, Hemingway Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ard was predeceased by a son, Johnny Ard; two brothers, JC Ard and Emmanuel Ard; and a grandson, Phillip Ard.

Surviving are two sons, Eddie Ard of Johnsonvilile and James Herring of Conway; four daughters, Ann Tanner and Lorraine Hanna, both of Johnsonville, Vera Watford of Lake City and Glenda Bescher of Florence; his companion, Louise Cribb of Johnsonville; three step-daughters, Teresa Grier and Angie McKenzie, both of Hemingway and Ginger Cribb; two sisters, Jessie Lou Curry of Sumter and Tine Cooper of Columbia; two step-brothers, Julian C. "JC" Baird of Johnsonville and John "BO" Robinson of Sumter; 13 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
