Jack Wayne Boyd

Jack Wayne Boyd, 87, of Schaper Avenue and formerly of Rilling Avenue, Erie, passed away peacefully on Friday March 4th, 2011 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born in Erie on November 14, 1923 son of the late Earl W. and Irma Stevens Boyd.

Jack attended Tech High School and was a driver at Erie Coach Co. for 18 years until 1966 when he moved to Miami, Fla. There he had been a Supervisor at Burdine's Department Store Warehouse until his retirement in 1984.

After the death of his first wife, he moved back to Erie in 1985. He enjoyed antique automobiles and had a true passion for Cadillac's.

He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he had served on the Board of Trustees and also was head usher. Jack was a former member of the Siebenbuerger Club.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean H. Boyd in 1984, two sisters, Alice Guthrie and Elizabeth Austin, and a brother, Robert E. Boyd.

He is survived by his wife whom he married July 4, 1987, Audrey A. Bolger Boyd of Erie, a son, Jack C. Boyd and his wife Donna of Erie; two step daughters, Linda Hesse and her husband Erwin of Erie, Patricia Willey and her husband Danny of Erie; two step sons, Dennis Bolger and his wife Marsha of Edinboro, Russell Bolger and his wife Deborah of Cambridge Springs, Pa.; a brother, Earl W. Boyd, Jr. and his wife Beverly of Erie; two grandchildren, Kimberly Boyd of Erie and Kelly Boyd of Phoenix, Ariz.

Further survived by eight step grandchildren, twelve step great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and many good friends.

Friends may call at Burton Westlake Funeral Home, on Sunday from 6-8 and Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11am, with Rev. Donald Hess officiating.

Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
