In 1920 she and her parents, her brother, and her paternal grandfather lived in a house they owned, with a mortgage, in Wray, CO. Her father worked as a telegraph operator at the Burlington Depot and her mother worked as a cashier. Her father came to the U.S. from Canada in 1901 and became a citizen in 1917.

In 1930 the five of them lived in a house they pwned at 719 Blake Street in Wray. Their home was valued at $1800, and they had a radio. Her father worked as a telegraph operator for the railroad and her mother as a bookkeeper at the grain elevator.

In 1940 she and her husband and their two children lived in a house they owned at 1050 South Harlan Street in Lakewood, CO. They owned their home, which was valued at $1000. He worked as a carpenter, doing building construction, with an income in 1939 of $2000 for 52 weeks of work.
