Professional Football Player. For three seasons (1948 to 1950), he played at the center position in the All-America Football Conference and National Football League with the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams. Born Arthur John Statuto, he attended Saugus High School (Massachusetts) and served with the US Navy during World War II, before playing collegiate football at the University of Notre Dame. While with the Fighting Irish, he was a member of two consecutive national championship teams (1946 and 1947). Statuto was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles during the 31st round of the 1948 NFL Draft, but began his professional career in the AAFC with Buffalo; he appeared in 36 career total AAFC and NFL games. During the 1950 season with the Rams, he was starting center with the Los Angeles squad which reached the NFL Title Game (defeated by the Cleveland Browns 30 to 28). Following his football career, he worked in industrial sales and founded his own business.
