Journalist, Publisher. The wife of publisher Frank Leslie, she took over publishing "Frank Leslie's Popular Monthly" and "Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper" after his death in 1880. She had her name legally changed to "Frank Leslie" and became known as the "Empress of Journalism". Upon her death, she left one million dollars to suffragette Carrie Chapman Catt to further the crusade of woman suffrage.
