Carole L. Murray, 72, Green Bay resident, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 20, 2010 at a local hospital. She was born August 14, 1937 in Milwaukee to the late Kenneth and Gladys (Radke) Snider. Carole graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1955. She participated in the band program receiving several awards for her abilities playing the flute. Carole then attended classes at UW Oshkosh where she met the love of her life, Richard, on a blind date in 1958. She graduated in 1960 with a bachelor's degree in education. Carole taught Jr. High School Math and Science in Kenosha until moving back to Green Bay in 1961. She taught at Fort Howard School in Green Bay. Carole married Richard J. Murray on June 22, 1963 at Union Congregational Church by Dr. Charles Bagby. Following their marriage they moved to South Bend, Indiana where she taught Science and Math to troubled boys. Carole and Richard moved to Arlington Heights in 1965 where she taught 6th grade. She had the privilege of teaching Coach George Allen's son (Chicago Bears) while there and adorned her classroom with the green and gold. Carole retired from teaching when their son Brad was born in 1968. She resumed teaching in 1974 in Oconomowoc at St. Jerome's Catholic School where she again taught Math and Science to the 8th grade. In 1986 they moved back to Green Bay where she taught at St. John the Baptist School until her health would not allow her to continue. Carole was a member of AAUW, Jr. Woman's Club and was the coordinator of the Lake largo Crime Watch. She is survived by her husband, Richard, and their son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Laura Murray, Waukesha, WI.; her sister, Judi Rohde, Crystal Lake, IL; her sister-in-law, Carolyn Murray, Ocala, Fl; nieces and nephews, Brent & Heather, Catherine, Barbara, Gregory and Peter. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Luther Medley; two brothers-in-law, Robert Rohde and Robert Murray. Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., from 4 to 7 P.M. Monday. Burial at Nicolet Memorial Gardens.
