Biography from A.W.Bowan & Co. 1896
Jacob Heyne was born October 27,1827 in Germany and left his native country when yet quite young for England, wither he went to learn a trade, the bakers trade that being selected.
While in England he married Miss Elizabeth Ball, of that country, and after this event emigrated to the USA, landing in New York and coming direct to Sebastian, Mercer, Ohio. Upon his arrival he purchased a 40 acre tract of wooded land, which he immediately began to clear, preparing it for a home for his family. Soon after he purchased another 40 acre tract, and still another making it 120 acres in all. In time, by continuous hard work and good management converted into one of the best farms in the township. Here he lived and labored , following farming and also for some years running a threshing machine until his death November 16,1892.
Mr.Heyne was a democrat in politics, a member of the Sebastian Catholic Church, and a very popular man, being liberal in his views and charitably disposed, yet at the time of his death leaving his family in comfortable circumstances.
His widow is still living on the old home place, at the age of 68, enjoying excellent health. She is a member of the Sebastian Catholic Church and an excellent woman in all respects. They were the parents of 14 children, 2 dying in infancy.
