BAUGHCUM, GEORGE LEE - 91, died quietly Tuesday morning, March 1, 2011, with his family by his side. Mr. Baughcum retired as a senior master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force and the Georgia Air National Guard. Born on August 19, 1919, he served in the Second World War where he participated in the campaign to recapture the Aleutian Islands in 1942. He was an avid fisherman his entire life and an enthusiastic fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially Georgia's fresh water lakes. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Henrietta "Stevie" Stevens Baughcum; and sisters, Lucille Baughcum Boyd and Frances Baughcum. He is survived by his son, Dr. Steven Baughcum of Redmond, WA; daughter, Dr. Denise Frazier of Knoxville, TN; grandson, Matthew Frazier and his girlfriend, Misti Berry of Knoxville, TN; granddaughter, Lori Woods and grandson-in-law, Stanley Woods of Kingston, TN; great-granddaughter, Grace Woods; brother, Donald Baughcum and sister-in-law, Minnie Baughcum of Conyers, GA; sisters-in-law, Sara Plott and Jean Maxwell, brother-in-law, Bert Maxwell; and loving friends, Charles and Carol Webb. The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5th, at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home in Norcross. Lamar Hansard, a long time friend, will officiate. Interment will follow at Peachtree Memorial Park in Norcross. The family will receive friends Friday, March 4th, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
