Born Nov. 6, 1892, in Johnstown, Pa., he was a son of Benjamin and Ella Parker Makin. His wife, the former Alice Phalen, died in 1968.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas at home, Richard of 776 Brice and David of 422 S. Roberts; two brothers, Her of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Charles of LaPorte, Ind.; three sisters, Mary Lawler of Illinois, Evelyn Schaefer of Chicago and Grace Green of Detroit; and six grandchildren.
He was a retired foreman at Ohio Steel Foundry and a member of American Legion and was an Army veteran of World War I.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Siferd Main Street Chapel, Fr. Donald Mohr officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today and Monday at the funeral home.
