Melissa "Alice" Hurley was the daughter of James and Flora Alfrey Hurley. She married first: Mont Isaac Phinney and only one of their three sons survived. After Mont's death, she married Marvin Gillette and after his death, she moved from Oklahoma to Augusta, Kansas to live with her surviving son. Death was the result of heart problems.
