Mr. Glins served as a medical corps Air Force Captain during WWII. He was graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and maintained an ophthalmology practice in Hamilton until he retired. After retiring, Mr. Glins volunteered his time at the Senior Friendship Center in Venice for over 15 years.
Surviving family members include his wife Anne, of Sarasota. He was predeceased by his brother Carl Glins.
Visitation at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Epiphany Cathedral. Burial will follow at Venice Memorial Gardens.

Dr. Richard J. Glins of Sarasota passed away February 28, 2011. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio the son of William and Catherine (Conrad) Glins. He is predeceased by his only sibling, Carl L. Glins.
Dr. Glins was a graduate of Hamilton Catholic, the male high school predecessor of Badin High School. He was a graduate of Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) and the College of Medicine, University of Cincinnati. Following a Residency in Internal Medicine, he joined the Medical Department at ARMCO Steel prior to serving as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force Medical Group at Robins Air Force Base during the Korean War. He returned to Middletown, Ohio and practiced Family Medicine prior to completing a Residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Cincinnati. He had an active Ophthalmology Practice for 25 years in Hamilton, Ohio. After retiring to Sarasota, Florida he was a volunteer (Ophthalmology) for 15 years at the Senior Friendship Center in Venice.
