Barbara Theresa Nix Kilgore, 88, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.
Born June 23, 1922, in Athens, GA, she was the daughter of the late Hosea Abit and Eunice Theresa Little Nix.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. A former member of the building directors at Georgia Cleveland Home, she was also a member of the Azalea Garden Club and the Rutledge Book Club.
Survivors include a son, John Abit (Sue) Kilgore of Greensboro, NC; two daughters, Terrie K. (Terrell) Ball of Spartanburg and Barbara Elizabeth Levine of Durham, NC; a daughter-in-law, Ansley A. Kilgore of Lakeland, FL; six grandchildren, Samuel R. (Jackie) Kilgore, III, Rebecca Levine, Amy Levine, Alison Levine, William Alexander Ball, Christopher A. Kilgore, and Jeremy A. Kilgore; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Hollingsworth of Atlanta, GA. She was predeceased by a son, Samuel Rea Kilgore, Jr.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dale Rawlings. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
