Parents: Jodie Artemus and Floy (McBrayer) Hardage.

During WWII, he served as an Aviation Radioman first class during his six years in the U.S. Navy. He moved to the Roseburg area in 1947. On April 23, 1949, he married Arlene Joyce Streight.

Bill worked at Roseburg Forest Products Sawmill #1 for thirty years and retired in March 1986. He was an avid camper, hunter and fisherman and activities he enjoyed with his family. Bill spent many happy hours caring for his beautiful yard and garden. He was a member of the Winston Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his loving wife, of 54 years, Arlene; son, William M. Hardage and his wife, Ileen; daughter, Linda J. Jones and her husband, Gene all of Roseburg; granddaughters, Amy L. Smith and her husband, Todd of Clovis, of New Mexico; and Gina M. Stiffler and her husband, Ralph of Roseburg; grandsons, Ted A. Jones and his wife, Natalie of Sutherlin, Oregon; Joshua C. Hardage and his wife, Grady of Stayton, Oregon; Joel E. Hardage of Kailua Kona, Hawaii; great-grandchildren Cynthia and Eric Smith; Riley Stiffler; and Troy Jones; brother, Jodie B. Hardage and his wife, Jo of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Faye M. Hardage Wolf and her husband, Tony of Mission, Texas; and Melba J. Hardage Griggs of Texas.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Jeremy A. Hardage in 1996.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at the Winston Assembly of God Church. Graveside services with military honors, provided by the VFW District 12 Honor Guard, will follow within the grounds of Roseburg Memorial Gardens.
