Lorain - Funeral services for Charles (Petey) Atkinson, Jr., a resident of Lorain for 45 years, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The Rev. C.W. Kendricks will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mr. Atkinson, 66, of 3106 Denver Ave., died Saturday night in Lorain Community Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Syracuse, N.Y.
An employee of Lorain Works, United States Steel Corp. for 36 years, Mr. Atkinson was a locomotive engineer when he retired in 1961. He was a charter member of Lake Erie Lodge 362 and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and the laymen's organization.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Myron Wooten and Mrs. Jennie Yancey, both of Lorain, and Mrs. Rosie Jones, Bronx, N.Y., and five brothers, Lonnie, Clarence, Arnold and Harry, all of Lorain, and Clifford of Elyria.
Friends will be received in Brown's Funeral Home today and tomorrow, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
