Carol Redlinger, 80, formerly of Sioux City. Carol Redlinger was called to heaven on Friday March 28, 2008 at Our Lady of The Laken Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Central Assembly of God in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday April 2, 2008 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Family members will be present from 6-8 p.m.

Carol, the last of the five children born to Merton and Persis (Bennett) Jerred, whose homestead was east of Millboro, SD, was born on April 3, 1927. She married Edwin Benjamin Redlinger, who is the son of John and Magdalena (Auch) Redlinger on June 22, 1948, in Mitchell, SD. They made their residence in Winner, SD where Edwin started his own trucking business and Carol worked as a nursing assistant in the hospital in Winner, SD.

Carol later decided to pursue her nursing career after they moved to Sioux City, IA and worked for 9 years at St. Luke's Hospital. Carol graduated with honors. After retirement, the couple became "snowbirds", traveling to McAllen, TX annually and eventually made McAllen their home. Carol Redlinger remained a resident of Paradise Park, located in McAllen, TX.

Carol is survived by four children who loved her deeply. Duane Redlinger and his wife, Carol of Cleveland, OH; Marcia Blomberg of Ponchatoula, LA and her children, Kelly, Carey and Chuck of Mitchell, SD; Jan Burlette and her husband, Kevin of Picayune, MS and their children Kami and Ben; Rita Moreci of Mandeville, LA and her children, Jennifer, Michael and Johnny. Two sisters-in-law: Joanne Jerred, of Winner, SD, and Olive Redlinger, of O'Neill, NE. She is preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers Laurence Jerred of Gregory, SD; and James J. Jerred of Wewla, SD; and Calvin Jerred of Winner, SD; Beth Redlinger of Boulder, CO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
