Misti Marie Andrzejek, age 33 of Yankton, left to enter the Spirit World as she lay in her mother's arms on Thursday, December 9, 2010. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, December 13, 2010 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel with Rev. Barb Hladky and Gene Thin Elk officiating. Burial will be in the Episcopal Cemetery in Santee, NE. Visitations will be from 4-9 PM, Sunday, December 12, 2010 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton, SD with a 7 PM wake service. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
Misti was born on November 7, 1977 to Patricia Grant and James Merrill in Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. She was baptized in August 2000. She graduated high school in Vermillion, SD in 1995. She attended USD, up until her Huntington's disease took its toll on her.
She worked at various jobs, but her favorite jobs were working in the retail business. Misti's life was centered around her beautiful daughter, M'aleigh, who gave her strength and courage to continue her life in this world. Misti was inspired by her daughter to start a committee for people with disabilities, to change or to knock down barriers.
Those who will cherish her memory are her daughter, M'aleigh Andrzejek of Yankton, SD; her mother, Pat Grant of Yankton, SD; sisters: Jodi Honner, Jamie Watson, Kathleen Nickles, and Brandy Crisman; her step grandfather, Nels Kastengren of Iowa and many nieces and nephews.
