OBITUARY
Gearld Willard Shirley, 85, having resided most of his life in Kerrville, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 31, in Kerrville. He was born on May 16, 1922, in Ingram, to Elizabeth Fairchilds and Archie Shirley. He married Esther Smith on May 21, 1946, in Llano. He was a veteran with the United States Army having served in WWII and Korea. He was employed as a service technician with Ken Stoepel Ford in Kerrville, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Pigeon Club in Kerrville and loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and two brothers. Survivors include his loving wife, Esther Shirley of Kerrville; niece, Karen Griffin and husband Bryan of Kerrville; nephews, L.C. Schneider and Glen Schneider; and two great nephews, Heath and Erik Griffin. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, at Six Mile Cemetery in Llano County, with Pastor Elliott Pancoast officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Peterson Hospice in Kerrville. Arrangements under the direction of Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Homes, Inc. in Llano.
