Mrs. Earlene King, age 70, resident of Columbia, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on February 20, 1941 in Maury County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Herman Eugene and Tommie Delma Young Bolton.

Earlene married Billy Ray King on May 21, 1966. They were married for 44 years.

She was a graduate of Columbia Central High School and Columbia Business College.

Earlene was retired as a Library Assistant with Highland Park Elementary School. She was a member of Columbia Church of God of Prophecy where she was clerk and treasurer for over 50 years. She was a longtime Sunday School teacher at the Columbia Church and was involved with the senior's ministry. She enjoyed painting and reading. Earlene was the rock that held her family together. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law and Memaw.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Mark Alan (Cayce) King and Michael Ray (Johnifer) King both of Columbia; two granddaughters, Whitney Marie King and Rachel Kaylene King; a grandson, John Michael King; a brother, Tommy (Jacqueline) Bolton of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. King conducted in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. E.C. McKinley and Rev. Charles Thornburg officiating. Interment at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Steve Boshers, Bill Brooks, Chris Bolton, Lee Bailey, R.L. King and Jeff Foster.

Honorary pallbearers will be former Sunday School students, staff at Highland Park Elementary School, Columbia Fire Department Honor Guard and present and retired members of the Columbia Fire Department.
