John Thomas Taylor was a son of William Taylor (c.1794-1848) and his wife Sarah "Sallie" McLendon (c.1805-1865). His paternal grandparents were Stephen Taylor & his wife Judith Yarbrough; and his maternal grandparents were Edmund McLendon & his wife Elizabeth.

John Thomas was born sometime around 1832/4, and died sometime after 1880. He was mentally deficient, and by 1880, he'd gone blind. After his mother's death in 1865, he lived for a time with his younger brother William Wilson Taylor, but in 1880, he was living in the household of his mother's former servants, George & Judy Taylor, and being cared for by them. I am not certain when he died.
