John Gordon Ainsworth, the son of William Ainsworth and Nancy Crockett, was born in what is now Cedar county, Missouri, a few years before the county formation. He married Sarah E. Farris about 1874. They had 4 children, Willie (died young), Mary C., John Andrew, and Robert Edward. John farmed in Howard county, Missouri, during his adult years. Sarah must have died before 1900 because the census for that year showed that John had married within the year to another Sarah who was much younger than his first wife. This new wife was Sarah Anderson.
John and Sarah were visiting his son, John Andrew, and family, in St. Louis over the Christmas holidays in 1921 when he died.
