Her grave marker is is very bad condition and a new one needs to be placed in front of her old one. It is almost illegible.
Marriah has a 'homemade" grave marker made of concrete.
It is very similar to the homemade markers for Hester Riddle and Reba Riddle in this same graveyard. Looks like one person made all three. All use the word "BORNED". My guess would be that they were made by Tommie Riddle, Marriah's son and the father of Hester and Reba.
She first married Tyre Alexander 'Tar' Riddle on Feb 12, 1884 in Union Co., MS. He was born 1845 AL and died abt 1887 Union Co., MS. They had one son, Thomas Jesse Riddle, who is buried in this cemetery.
After TAR's death she married Shadrack S.Tyer on Mar 13, 1888, in Union Co., MS.
Her grave marker is inscribed "Marriah Gafford Riddle - Tyer" and it is about four feet South of the marker for S. S. Tyre.(Tyer)
