US Congressman. Served during the Revolutionary War in the Continental Army Commissary Department. Elected as an At-Large Delegate from Connecticut to the United States House of Representatives to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Congressman James Hillhouse, serving from 1796 until his death in office in 1797. He was the brother of Connecticut Congressman John Davenport.
