Mrs. Jennie W. Machlin, wife of James Machlin, a well-known butcher of Plainfield and Carlisle market attendant, died Thursday evening at 7:10 after a protracted illness, aged 49 years. Mrs. Machlin was formerly Miss Jennie Wetzel of this place, daughter of the late Ephraim M. Wetzel, for years a well-known contractor of the town. Her mother died three weeks ago Tuesday. Mrs. Machlin was for many years a member of the First Lutheran church (sic) and was active in its different departments, being interested especially in the cause of missions. She was a loving wife and sister, a consecrated church worker and a woman, who because of her amiable disposition, had a host of friends. Mrs. Machlin is survived by her husband, brother, W. Abner Wetzel, Carlisle, P.R.R. conductor, and three sisters, Miss Minnie Wetzel, at home, Mrs. Edwin Miller, of Harrisburg, and Mrs. Newton C. Wert, Carlisle.
Funeral services will be held in the Wetzel home, 428 South Hanover street (sic), Monday morning at 11 o'clock. Burial will be made in the Mausoleum at Chambersburg. Mrs. Machlin was well-known in Harrisburg, where she resided at one time.

Drs. A.R. Steck, Carlisle, and George M. Diffenderfer, Washington, D.C., officiated at the funeral of Mrs. James Machlin, of Plainfield, services being held at eleven o'clock this morning at the Wetzel home, 428 South Hanover street (sic). The pall-bearers were: H.T. Herman, H.D. Romberger, J. Mac Graham, Park Bloser, P.I. Bitner and Ira Christman. Interment was in the mausoleum at Chambersburg.
