Robert William Gossett, 76 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky departed this life on Tuesday, March 1st, 2011.

Robert was born in Somerset, Kentucky on March 30th, 1934, son of the late Dennis H. Gossett and Thelma Brown Gossett. He was a graduate and valedictorian of the Pulaski County High School Class of 1952, a former employee of the Somerset Housing Authority and of the Baptist faith. He was a United States Army veteran, serving as a medical records specialist from 1957-1959 and with the Somerset National Guard 149th Infantry during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post No#38 and served on the executive board.

Robert was survived by his previous wife, longtime friend and companion, Phyllis Price of Somerset, Kentucky; three sons, Anthony (and Velda) Gossett of Somerset, Kentucky, Gordon (and Tessa) Gossett of the Slate Branch community in Pulaski County, Kentucky, and William "Robbie" (and Danel) Gossett of Science Hill, Kentucky; one daughter, Cindy (and Roger) Colyer of Somerset, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Natasha (and Joe) Willett, Robert Dennis Gossett, Alison Willett, Grace Gossett, and Brian Gossett; three great grandchildren, Brooklyn Gibson, Savannah Gibson, and Sierra Skye Gossett; one brother, Richard (and Kim) Gossett of Science Hill, Kentucky; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis H. and Thelma Gossett; and two sisters, Ruby Price and Fern Cromer.

Visitations were held after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3rd, 2011 at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 4th, 2011 in the Remembrance Chapel of the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Wiles and Bro. J.S. New officiating.

Burial followed in the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky. The American Legion Post No#38 Honor Guard conducted full military honors for Robert.
