Capt. William Henry Harrison Walters enlisted 11 Jun 1861 as a private in the 1st Georgia, 4th Brigade, Georgia Volunteers at Camp McDonald, Marietta, GA which became Co H, 18th Infantry Regiment, Bartow County, "Rowland's Infantry" when officially made a part of the Confederate Army. He served with the 18th Georgia until Jan 1865 when he retured to Georgia as Aide-de-Camp to Gen. William Tatum Wofford, who had been appointed Dept Commander for North Georgia by Pres. Jefferson Davis. Wofford's Scouts, as his men became known, were the last to surrender, 12 May 1865.

Harrison Walters married Flora Eugenia Vincent of Pine Log, Bartow Co., GA on 9 Jul 1865. They were the parents of 9 children.
