MRS. J.E. HUNTER DEAD
WIFE OF DR. J.E. HUNTER OF MELISSA
FUNERAL THIS AFTERNOON
Burial in Highland Cemetery--Was Well Known in McKinney.

Friends in this city were shocked this morning to hear of the death of Mrs. Hunter, wife of Dr. J.E. Hunter, which occurred at their home in Melissa last night at 9 o'clock. She had been in declining health for two years, but had only been confined to her bed for two weeks. Mrs. Hunter whose maiden name was Martha Francis Ogilvie, was a daughter of F. H. and Mrs. V. R. Ogilvie, and was born at Melissa, Texas, January 10, 1878, her age being twenty-seven years, eight months and eight days. Her father died Feb. 24, 1890. She grew to girlhood in Melissa. On leaving the public school there her education was completed at the Mary Nash College in Sherman, graduating in June 1897. Not only was she highly cultured intellectually, but her Christian training was of the highest order. She was converted at the early age of twelve years and united with the Baptist church. On August 10, 1903, she removed her membership to the Christian church of which her husband was a member. Her perfect Christian life is known and admired by all who knew her and its influence will live forever.
Mrs. Hunter was associated with Mrs. W. E. Marshall in her millinery establishment in McKinney for two seasons in 1900 and 1901. During the time she many friends here. Her marriage to Dr. J. E. Hunter one of the leading young physicians of the county, occurred June 18, 1901, just a little more than four years ago. Their home was a perfectly happy one and to us who can see only with the finite eye, it seems strange that this devoted young wife and useful Christian woman should be taken at such an early age, why she was not left to continue on the happy mission of scattering sunshine and joy among those she love and who loved her. She is survived by her husband and another sister, Miss Irene Ogilvie, two brothers, Fred and Henry , all of Melissa. To them we offer our heartfelt sympathy. The elder brother, J. W. (Mack) Ogilvie died in Houston on Feb. 14, of this year, and his body was brought to Melissa and buried. The funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Melissa this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, Revs. George L. Bush of McKinney, J. L. Truett of Whitewright and J. P. Holmes of Celina officiating. The interment was made in Highland cemetery in the presence of hundreds of sorrowing friends.
