COSTIN MURPHREE

BRUCE - Costin Lynn Murphree, 74, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at his son's home in Houston. He was born Aug. 15, 1936, in Calhoun County. He was a sewing machine mechanic and a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Pittsboro.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce. Bro. Jerry Wilson will officiate, and Bro. Charles Flake and Bro. Jason Salisbury will assist. Burial will be in Poplar Springs Cemetery at Vardaman.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Stone Murphree of Bruce; a daughter, Janice Vaughn of Bruce; two sons, Roy Lynn Murphree (Brenda) of Amory and Scott Murphree (Susie) of Houston; two sisters, Charlotte Maxey of Bruce and Elisabeth Lance of Calhoun City; four brothers, Laborn, Donald and Danny Murphree, all of Randolph, and Steve Murphree of Olive Branch; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Buford Murphree and Trudie Elvira Costin Murphree.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Hall, C.J. Murphree, Jerad Murphree, Jeremy Murphree, Peyton Murphree, Jason Salisbury, Marissa Vaughn and Miranda Vaughn.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Parker Memorial Funeral Home, P.O. Box 458, Bruce, MS 38915; or First Pentecostal Church of Pittsboro, P.O. Box 695, Bruce, MS 38915.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce. Jeff Flake will officiate. Burial will be in Poplar Springs Cemetery in Vardaman. Parker Funeral Home has charge.

Maxey was a retired licensed practical nurse, a member of First Pentecostal Church of Pittsboro.

Survivors include: her husband, Herman Maxey of Bruce; one daughter, Gayla Cheryl Burress of Bruce; two sons, David Randall Henry of Batesville and Jerry Calvin Henry of Stockholm, Sweden; two step-sons, Keith Maxey of Southaven and Kevin Maxey of Coffeeville; one sister, Nancy Elizabeth Lance of Calhoun City; four brothers, Laborn Murphree, Donald Murphree, Danny Murphree, all of Randolph and Steve Murphree of Olive Branch and five grandchildren.
