He was born May 15, 1918, in Lorain, and was a lifelong area resident.
Chulik was a foreman in the blast furnace department of U.S. Steel's Lorain Works, retiring in 1975 after 40 years' service. He previously was employed as a pipe fitter at the mill.
He was a member of the U.S. Steel Management Club, Lorain Senior Fellowship, Jolly 60s of Elyria, Sunny Seniors of North Eaton, North Eaton Lunch Group and American Association of Retired Persons 3318. Chulik was an amateur radio operator with the call letters N8HAF and He worked at the polls during elections. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and bowling.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Margaret (nee Bozik); son, Dr. John Chulik of Akron; daughters Jan Jones of Lorain and Denise Chulik of Akron; seven grandchildren, several stepgrandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and sister, Diana Kribbs of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Barbara (nee Rujevcan) Chulik; brothers Charles Chulik and Frank Chulik; and sisters Mary Kormish ad Anne Salek.
Friends may call Friday 4 to 8 p.m. at Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain, where services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Jim Gordon, pastor of Elyria Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
